Cats and Dogs at the Same Home: Multi-Pet Visits in Cat Grooming Software

For a mobile groomer, the best stop on the route is the one with more than one pet. One drive, one parking job, one setup, and two or three animals groomed. Plenty of those homes have a cat and a dog, or a cat and two dogs, and the visit has to keep them straight.

PetGroomBossPro handles this by putting all the pets at a home on one visit, each with its own record.

One Visit, Several Pets

As Cat Booking Requests in Leads: From the Book Now Form to a Confirmed Time pointed out, booking requests often come in with more than one pet. Here is how that home looks once it is booked.

Every job holds the pets at that home, up to four per visit. Each pet has its own:

So a home with Biscuit the shih tzu, Max the doodle and Mochi the Maine Coon is one appointment with three pets on the card, each clearly labeled. The groomer is not guessing which name is the cat.

What the Groomer Sees

On the groomer app, the appointment card lists each pet with breed, size, coat and cut notes. The add-ons are on the job, the van notes for the house are there, and past notes from earlier visits are available.

That lets the groomer plan the visit from the curb: which pet goes first, what each one needs, and whether anything in the notes changes the order. Those calls are the groomer's. The card just puts all three pets in front of them at once.

A Checklist for Each Pet

The grooming checklist is per pet. For each one, the groomer works through the lines that apply, such as coat and skin checked on arrival, brushed out / de-matted, bath and conditioner, blow dry and fluff, haircut / style, sanitary trim, paw pads, nails, ears, eyes and face, and final brush-out, plus that pet's add-ons.

That keeps the record honest at a multi-pet home. The dog's full groom and the cat's nail trim are not blended into one note. The office sees each pet's checklist on the job, and the Grooming Report shows them separately for the owner. See The Grooming Checklist for a Cat: Working Each Line on the Groomer App.

Pricing a Mixed Home

A job can carry more than one service. The dogs might be on a full groom, with a size add-on for the big doodle, and the cat on a cat groom with a flat price. The invoice lists each service and add-on as its own line, so the owner can see the dog work and the cat work separately.

PetGroomBossPro also keeps measurements on each property: pets, dogs and cats. Services can be priced off them. Some groomers use this for homes that are always the same mix, so a service is priced by how many dogs and cats live there. Either way works, and you can choose per service.

On the booking page, an owner can enter several pets in one request and see a total. Since the booking page does not ask Dog or Cat, a mixed home might need a quick follow-up to make sure the cat is on a cat service.

Different Schedules Under One Roof

Not every pet in a house needs the same frequency. The doodle might be every 4 weeks and the cat every 8. The frequency in PetGroomBossPro is set per client booking, and the visit holds the pets that are being groomed that day.

There are a couple of ways groomers handle this. Some book the home on the shorter schedule and only include the cat on every other visit. Others set up two repeat series at the same address. The software does not pick for you. What matters is that each visit lists the pets actually on it, so the card and the invoice match what happens.

Carried Forward Together

The next visit at that home fills in from the last one. All the pets come back, cats and dogs, with their breeds, coats and notes. If the cat was not groomed this time, take it off the visit, and add it back when it is due.

When a new pet arrives, add it to the next visit. When a pet is gone, remove it so it does not show up on the card or the Grooming Report.

More Pets, Better Stops

Homes with cats and dogs are some of the most valuable stops on a mobile grooming route. Clear records for each pet, a checklist for each one and an invoice that lists them separately make those stops easy to run and easy to bill.
