Dog Grooming App: The Complete Guide for Mobile Groomers and Their Vans

A mobile grooming business lives on the phone in the groomer's pocket. The van is parked in a driveway, the dog is on the table, the next customer is twenty minutes away, and the office (which might be the same person holding the clippers) needs to know what happened at the last stop. A good dog grooming app keeps all of that in one place without asking the groomer to type a novel between pets.

This guide walks through the PetGroomBossPro groomer app from login to the paid invoice. Each section points to a deeper article if you want the details.

Who the Groomer App Is For

The groomer app is the field half of PetGroomBossPro. The office side handles booking requests, repeat appointments, Pending Jobs, the Scheduled list, invoices and reports. The groomer side handles the day itself: where to go, what pets are waiting, what the cut is, and what got done. If you want the overview of both halves first, the PetGroomBossPro dog grooming app page lays it out.

It fits an owner-operator with one van just as well as a business with a few vans, each with a groomer and maybe a bather. The same app runs on every phone, and each person sees their own day.

Logging In and Getting the App on the Phone

There is no app store download. The groomer app runs in the browser on iPhone and Android and can be installed to the home screen, so it opens like any other app. Each person signs in with your company login plus their own personal PIN. That PIN is what ties every appointment, photo and clock-in to the right groomer or bather.

The login side is covered in Logging In to the Groomer App: Company Login Plus a Personal PIN, and the install steps in the article after it.

The Day in Order, With Set Times

Once logged in, the groomer sees their appointments for the day in route order. Each card shows the set appointment time, the address and a navigation button that opens directions with one tap. The order comes from the office: repeat appointments are written up front, wait on Pending Jobs until the office confirms them, and then land on the Scheduled list, where the office sets the van order by hand or auto-routes Closest First or Furthest First from the shop.

If the office moves an appointment, the groomer's list follows. Nobody is working off a paper planner printed at 7am.

Every Pet on the Card

This is where a groomer app earns its place. Each appointment holds the pets at that home, up to four per visit. For each pet the card shows:

Below the pets sit the add-ons ticked on the appointment (teeth brushing, nail grinding, de-shed treatment, ear cleaning, a bandana, whatever you have set up), the van notes for that home (where to park, the gate code, the outlet and water hookup), and past notes from earlier visits.

The part that saves the most time: the next visit at that home fills in from the last one. The pets, breeds, coats and cut notes carry forward, so nobody re-types Biscuit the Goldendoodle every six weeks.

Working the Appointment

Three buttons run the visit. Start tells the office the groomer is on it. Skip marks an appointment that cannot happen today, with a note saying why. Complete closes it out.

In between, the groomer works the per-pet grooming checklist: coat and skin checked on arrival, brushed out or de-matted, bath and conditioner, blow dry and fluff, haircut or style, sanitary trim, paw pads, nails, ears, eyes and face, and the final brush-out, plus the add-ons for that pet. There is a note for the customer too, something like “matting behind the ears is coming back.” Before-and-after photos taken in the app stay with the appointment.

The checklist is not a grooming method. Every groomer does the work their own way. It is a record of what was done for each pet, so the office and the customer can see it.

The Customer Side, Automatically

While the groomer works the route, the customer is kept in the loop without anyone typing a text. An on-the-way text and an arrived text go out automatically. Customers choose their alerts in the customer app: the night before, when they are next, and when the groomer arrives. They can also watch the day on a live map that says something like “You're stop 12 of 20,” and replies to texts come back to the office through two-way texting.

That matters more for mobile grooming than almost any other trade. The dog has to be handed over at the door. An owner who knows the van is ten minutes out has the leash ready.

Getting Paid at Completion

When the groomer taps Complete, the invoice is created and the card on file can be charged right then, before the van pulls away. The customer sees the paid invoice in the customer app and can leave a tip on it. Accounts set to monthly billing, such as a senior living community's pet day or an apartment community, get one statement at the end of the month instead.

The office sees the completed appointment with its checklist, photos and customer note, and can print a Grooming Report for the customer.

Time Clock and Van GPS

Groomers and bathers clock in and out on the same app, so hours are recorded as they happen instead of reconstructed on Friday. Van GPS shows on the office map, so the office can tell a customer roughly where the groomer is, or see which van is closest when a request comes in. A groomer and a bather can share a van, each with their own PIN and their own clock-in.

Where to Go From Here

The rest of this series takes each piece one at a time: login and install, the day in order, navigation, each part of the pet card, the checklist, photos, texts, payment, the time clock, GPS, multi-pet homes, cats, training a new groomer, and finally how to choose a groomer app at all.
