Billing Grooming Customers in Their Own Currency: US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK
Mobile grooming is not just an American business. Grooming vans work suburbs in Toronto, Melbourne, Auckland and Manchester the same way they work suburbs in Texas. A groomer outside the US needs invoicing software that does not assume every price is in US dollars and every customer has a US address.
Where PetGroomBossPro Works
Reports, covered in Grooming Payment Reports: What Got Billed, What Got Paid and What Is Still Out, show what was billed and paid. For groomers outside the US, the next question is what currency those numbers are in.
PetGroomBossPro works in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and it bills customers in their own currency. A groomer in Canada invoices in Canadian dollars. A groomer in Australia invoices in Australian dollars. The prices on your service list, your add-ons and your invoices are all in the money your customers actually use.
Invoices That Look Local
An invoice in the wrong currency looks like a mistake, even if the number is right. Customers notice. A Canadian customer who gets an invoice with a US dollar sign might wonder whether they are being charged in another currency, and they will ask.
Billing in the customer's own currency avoids that. The invoice shows each pet's service and each add-on at your prices, in your currency, with tax where it applies. The customer reads it as easily as a bill from any local business.
Card on File and Online Payment
Card on file works the same way wherever you groom. The card is saved once — from your sign-up form, the customer app or the office — and it can be charged when the groomer taps Complete, or on a schedule. The charge is in your customer's currency.
Customers without a card on file get the invoice by email and in the customer app, and pay online there. Tips work the same way too: on a paid invoice, the customer can leave a tip, and app tips land on the tips report. For the details on card on file, see Card on File for Mobile Groomers: Save the Card Once, Charge It Every Visit.
Sales Tax, GST and VAT
Every one of these countries handles tax on services differently. Sales tax in the US, GST and provincial taxes in Canada, GST in Australia and New Zealand, and VAT in the UK all have their own rules, and some small businesses will not need to charge tax at all.
This article is not tax advice. Ask your accountant or local tax office what applies to grooming services where you work. Once you know, PetGroomBossPro puts tax on the invoice, so your groomers never do the math in the driveway. More on that in Sales Tax on Grooming Invoices: Set It Once and Let the Invoice Do the Math.
Tips are worth a word, too. Tipping customs differ from country to country, and in some places tipping a groomer is less common. The tip option on a paid invoice is there for customers who want it; nobody is asked to use it.
Texting Customers Outside the US
Billing is closely tied to texting, because reminders, “on the way” and “arrived” texts and past-due follow-ups all go out by text and email. PetGroomBossPro plans include a monthly text allowance of 500, 1,000 or 2,000 texts sent and received on Start, Pro and Crew, for the US and Canada.
If you groom outside the US and Canada, check with the PetGroomBossPro team about texting in your country before you rely on it for billing reminders. Invoice emails and the customer app work the same way wherever your customers are.
If you are moving from another system, check that your prices carry over in the right currency before your first week of invoices goes out. A quick look at your service list, your add-on prices and one test invoice is enough to catch a mistake before a customer does.
Everything Else Is the Same
The rest of the billing workflow does not change with the country. Every job holds the pets at that home, with breed, size, coat and rabies due date. Add-ons are ticked on the job. The groomer taps Complete and the invoice is built. Monthly accounts get one statement each month. Repeat clients keep their price on upcoming visits until you change it.
CSV import brings your existing client list in, and imported addresses are placed on the map automatically, so a groomer switching from another system can get started without retyping everyone.
If you groom in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or the UK, your customers can be billed in the money they actually spend. To see the full set of billing tools, visit the pet grooming invoicing software page.
