Cat Services on the Service List: Cat Groom, Lion Cut, Comb-Out, Sanitary Trim and Nail Trim

Your service list is the menu. It is what the booking page offers, what the office picks when it books an appointment, what the groomer sees on the card and what the customer sees on the invoice. If cats are not on it properly, every one of those places has to improvise.

This article walks through putting cat services on the list in PetGroomBossPro.

One List for Dogs and Cats

The cut itself was covered in Lion Cut Notes Carried Forward: The Same Cut Every Visit Without Re-Typing. This article covers what you charge for it, and for the rest of your cat work.

PetGroomBossPro has one service list. Dog services and cat services sit side by side. There is no separate cat menu and no setting that marks a service as cat-only. That keeps things simple, but it means the name of the service has to do the work of telling everyone it is for a cat.

One list also means one set of rules for repeat appointments. The frequency, such as every 6 or 8 weeks, is picked per client when you book, not built into the service. You do not need a “Cat Groom every 8 weeks” service and a “Cat Groom every 6 weeks” service.

A Starting Set of Cat Services

Here is a common starting point. Use your own names and drop anything you do not offer.

Putting “Cat” at the start of each name keeps them grouped when someone scrolls the list, and it makes the booking page clear to an owner who arrived from a search for cat grooming.

Prices: Base, Size Add-On and Minimum

Each service on the booking page has a base price, a price add-on per size and a minimum. The sizes are Toy, Small, Medium, Large and Giant.

Those sizes fit dogs better than cats, so decide how you want size to affect cat prices. Some groomers leave the size add-on at zero on cat services and charge one flat price. Others add a little for Large, for the big longhairs, and leave the rest flat. Either way, keep it consistent with the size rule your office uses when it enters cats.

Example prices might be a $95 cat groom, a $120 lion cut, a $20 nail trim. Those are only examples. The right numbers depend on your market, your time and how you want cats to fit your day.

Add-Ons Stay Separate

Extras such as De-Matting, Ear Cleaning, Nail Grinding, Flea & Tick Bath and Paw Balm are add-ons rather than services. You set them up once with their prices, and they are ticked on the job when they apply. They show on the booking page too, so an owner can pick them and see the price.

Keeping extras as add-ons means the cat groom service stays one clean line, and the add-ons show up only when they were done. Details are in Add-Ons on a Cat Appointment: Ticking De-Matting, Ear Cleaning and Nail Grinding on the Job.

Where the Services Show Up

Once a cat service is on the list, it flows everywhere:

Measurements on the Property

PetGroomBossPro also keeps measurements on each property: pets, dogs and cats. Services can be priced off those measurements. For a home with a cat and two dogs, that gives you a way to price by how many of each live there, rather than by one flat number per visit. It is optional, and plenty of groomers simply pick the services per pet.

Get the Menu Right First

Cat services named clearly, priced on purpose and kept separate from add-ons make every other part of cat grooming in the software easier, from the booking page to the invoice. For the full set of cat features, see the cat grooming software page.

Put Cats on the Menu

PetGroomBossPro puts your cat services next to your dog services, with your prices, on the booking page, the groomer app and the invoice.
