Add-Ons in Mobile Pet Grooming Software: Teeth, Nails, De-Shed and the Bandana

The full groom is the main event, but add-ons are where a lot of a mobile groomer's day gets decided. A teeth brushing that was paid for and forgotten is an awkward call. A de-shed that was done and never billed is money left in the driveway. Add-ons need to be on the job, on the invoice and on the next visit, with nothing in between that depends on memory.

Add-Ons Ride Along With the Pets

In The Next Visit Fills In From the Last: Why Nobody Re-Types the Pets or the Cut we covered how a visit carries forward. Add-ons are part of that. Whatever was ticked last time is ticked again next time, until someone changes it.

Your List, Your Names

PetGroomBossPro does not force a fixed menu on you. You set up the add-ons you actually offer. A typical list for a mobile groomer might include:

If you offer something that is not on that list, add it. If you never do one of them, leave it off. The list on the groomer's phone is the list you built.

Prices Come From You

Each add-on has a price you set, for example $15 for teeth brushing or $20 for a nail trim on its own. When an add-on is ticked on a job, it shows on the invoice as its own line item, so the customer sees exactly what they paid for and the total is never a mystery number.

The same add-on prices feed the online booking page. A customer booking a full groom can tick teeth brushing and a bandana and see the price go up as they go. The booking page is covered in Online Booking Priced by Pet Size: The Book Now Page for Mobile Groomers.

On the Groomer's Card

On the groomer app, the add-ons show on the appointment card next to the pets. The groomer sees “Teeth Brushing, Nail Grinding, Bow / Bandana” before the first dog comes into the van, so the right supplies are out and nothing is missed at the end.

The grooming checklist includes the add-ons too. Along with the standard steps for each pet, the groomer ticks each add-on as it is done. When the office looks at the job, they can see that the add-ons were not just booked but completed, and the Grooming Report for the customer shows them as well.

Adding One on the Spot

Owners often ask for something extra at the door. “Can you do her nails too?” or “He's been scratching, can you do the flea bath?” When that happens, the extra add-on goes on the job so it lands on the invoice. Whether your groomers add it themselves or text the office to add it is up to how you run things; either way, the work done and the work billed match.

If the owner wants it every time from now on, it stays on the visit and carries to the next one. If it was a one-time request, take it off the next visit before it is confirmed.

Add-Ons on Repeat Appointments

For clients on a repeat series, add-ons are part of what makes the series right. A client who wants teeth brushing every visit should not have to ask for it every visit. Because the next visit fills in from the last, the add-on is already there. If the owner calls to drop it, the change goes on the upcoming visit and carries forward from there.

Some groomers like to keep a seasonal add-on, like a de-shed treatment for double-coated dogs in the spring. Ticking it for the visits that need it and unticking it afterward keeps the invoice honest without any special setup.

One Light Word on Bandanas

The bow or bandana is the smallest add-on and maybe the one owners notice most. It is the first thing they see when the dog comes back to the door. Putting it on the list, on the card and on the checklist is a small thing that keeps a small promise. Nobody wants to explain to a proud dog why it came home undressed.

Add-Ons and Reports

Because each add-on is a line item, it shows up wherever invoices are counted. That makes it easier to see which extras your clients actually buy and which ones nobody picks, which is useful when you decide what to put on the booking page.
