Custom Days and Monthly Schedules for Recurring Grooming Clients

Most repeat grooming clients fit neatly into whole weeks: every 4, every 6, every 8. But not all of them. Some owners think in months. Some accounts have a rhythm of their own. A few clients just want something odd that works for their life. That is what the monthly and custom-day options in PetGroomBossPro are for.

When Weeks Do Not Fit

The weekly-based frequencies are explained in Every 4, 6 or 8 Weeks: Setting a Repeat Grooming Frequency in the Software. They keep the same weekday every time, which is why they suit fixed slots so well. Monthly and custom days cover the cases they do not.

You still book these from Add Recurring Grooming, with the same service list, the same pets carried forward, and a time and van on every visit. The only difference is the gap between visits.

Monthly

Monthly is for clients and accounts who plan by the calendar month. Typical examples:

The accounts in that list often pair well with monthly account billing, where every visit in the month goes on one statement. That side is covered in Monthly Accounts on a Repeat Grooming Schedule: Senior Living, Daycare and Apartment Pet Days.

One thing to keep in mind: months are not all the same length, so a monthly visit will not always fall on the same weekday the way an every-4-weeks visit does. If the client cares more about “always Tuesday” than “once a month,” every 4 weeks is usually the better fit. Ask which matters more to them.

Custom Days

Custom days lets you set the gap yourself when none of the standard choices work. Some situations where groomers reach for it:

If the gap you choose is a whole number of weeks, the visits stay on the same weekday. If it is not, the weekday will move from visit to visit. That is fine when the client is flexible, but it is worth explaining up front so nobody is surprised when the reminder says Thursday instead of Tuesday.

Custom days is also handy for testing a rhythm. If an owner is not sure what gap works for their dog, you can agree on a short series, see how the coat and the owner's budget hold up, and then settle on a standard frequency for the long run. The software does not judge the gap; it just writes the visits where you told it to.

Keeping Odd Schedules Under Control

Odd schedules are where paper books go wrong, because nobody can do the date math in their head. In PetGroomBossPro the software does the math. Every visit is written up front and waits on Pending Jobs with its planned day, time and van, so you can see exactly when each one lands before you promise anything.

A few habits keep it tidy:

Changing a Monthly or Custom Series

Monthly and custom-day series live on the Recurring Clients list like every other series. You can change the van, day, time or price for upcoming visits, extend the series or stop it.

To change the frequency itself, stop the series and add a new one with the new frequency. The pets, cut notes and van notes carry over because they live with the client's visits, and the next visit fills in from the last one. Nobody re-types the dog.

One Book, Any Rhythm

The point of having monthly and custom days next to the weekly options is that every client lives in one system, whatever their rhythm. The every-6-week doodle, the monthly senior living pet day and the custom-gap traveler all show on the same Pending Jobs map and the same groomer app. To see how it all fits together, go back to the recurring grooming software page.
