Multi-Pet Homes on the Groomer App: Up to Four Pets on One Visit

Multi-pet homes are some of the best stops in mobile grooming. One drive, one setup, one handover, and two or three pets groomed. They are also where details get mixed up most easily. Which dog gets the teddy bear face and which gets the short summer cut? Was it the older dog or the younger one who needs the muzzle for nails? A card that keeps each pet separate keeps the groom straight.

Up to Four Pets per Visit

The last article was Cats on the Groomer App: Cat Grooms, Lion Cuts and Notes That Keep Visits Calm, about cats on the card. A multi-pet home might have cats, dogs or both. In PetGroomBossPro, each visit holds up to four pets, and each one has its own block on the card:

Each Pet Gets Its Own Checklist

The per-pet grooming checklist is exactly that: per pet. A home with three dogs has three checklists. Each dog's items (coat and skin on arrival through the final brush-out, plus its own add-ons) are ticked on its own list.

That matters more at a multi-pet home than anywhere else. After the second dog, it is easy to lose track of whether the first one had the ears done. Add-Ons per Pet

At a multi-pet home, not every pet gets the same extras. The big dog gets a de-shed treatment, the small one gets teeth brushing, and the cat gets nothing extra at all. The add-ons on the appointment show with the pets, and the checklist for each pet shows its own add-ons, so the right extras go to the right pet.

Pricing a Multi-Pet Visit

How you price multi-pet homes is your call. Some grooming businesses charge full price per pet; others give a little off the second pet. Planning the Time

A three-pet home takes longer than a one-pet home. The office plans for that on the Scheduled list, where set appointment times show on every card. If a home has three doodles on a full groom, the next appointment needs to be well after it. The groomer can see the whole day in the morning and spot a tight squeeze before it becomes a late afternoon.

Repeat appointments help. A multi-pet home on an every-six-weeks schedule keeps its weekday, time and van, and the office can give it a slot with enough room once and keep it.

Photos at a Multi-Pet Home

Before-and-after photos at a busy multi-pet home are worth a small routine: take them in the same order as the pets on the card. Before photo of each pet as it comes into the van, after photo of each before it goes back. The office can then match the photos to the right pet. Notes for the Customer, One per Pet

Each pet's checklist has its own note for the customer. At a multi-pet home, that means the owner hears about each pet separately: “Biscuit: matting behind the ears is coming back.” “Pepper: great visit, no notes.” The Grooming Report the office prints covers each pet, so the owner does not have to guess which comment was about which dog.

Carrying It All Forward

The next visit at the home fills in from the last one, with every pet, its breed, size, coat and notes. A three-dog home is entered once and then shows up correctly every visit. When a pet is added, or sadly when one passes, the office updates the visit and it carries forward from there.
