Cats on a Repeat Grooming Schedule: Setting Up Recurring Cat Grooms

Plenty of mobile groomers do cats, and plenty of cat owners love a groomer who comes to them. No car ride, no carrier in the back seat, no waiting room full of barking dogs. Cat clients can be some of the most loyal repeat clients a van has. Setting them up on a repeat schedule in PetGroomBossPro works the same way as dogs, with a few details worth getting right.

Cats Are First-Class Clients

Building a full van week is covered in Filling a Grooming Van's Week With Recurring Slots. Cat clients fit into that week just like dog clients do, on a fixed weekday, time and van.

In PetGroomBossPro every pet on a visit is marked Dog or Cat. A cat gets the same fields as a dog: name, breed, size, coat (a long-haired Persian and a short-haired domestic are very different grooms), rabies due date that you type in, and a notes line for the cut and behavior. Your service list can include cat services like Cat Groom or Lion Cut, with your own prices, such as a $95 cat groom.

Booking a Recurring Cat Groom

Book a cat client with Add Recurring Grooming, the same as any other repeat client. Pick the client and address, check the cat's details, pick the cat service and any add-ons, then choose the frequency, the weekday, the time and the van.

How often a particular cat should be groomed is a conversation between you and the owner. Some owners book every 6 or 8 weeks, some monthly, some on custom days, and the software holds whatever you agree. The options are covered in Every 4, 6 or 8 Weeks: Setting a Repeat Grooming Frequency in the Software.

Every visit in the series is written up front and waits on Pending Jobs with its planned day, time and van, just like a dog's.

Picking the Right Slot

Some groomers like to put cats at a time when there is no dog waiting and the van has been cleaned out, but that is your call based on how your day runs. Because the slot is fixed, once you find a time that works for a cat, it stays.

Choose the van with the setup you prefer for cats, if your vans differ. The slot belongs to that van, so the same groomer usually sees the same cat each visit.

Behavior Notes Matter Even More

Cat notes are often more about behavior than the cut. The notes line holds whatever the next groomer needs to know before the visit starts:

These are notes about how a cat does in your van, not medical advice. Anything health-related belongs with the owner and their vet. The way notes carry forward is covered in Cut Notes That Stay With the Client Across Every Repeat Grooming Visit.

Reminders Help Cat Owners Most

The biggest practical challenge with cats is often just finding them. A cat that hears the van can be under the bed before the groomer reaches the door. Reminders help a lot here. With the night-before reminder, the owner knows to keep the cat in one room. With the when-they're-next alert or the automatic on-the-way text, the owner can get the cat into a carrier before the van pulls up.

Customers choose their alerts in the customer app. For a cat client, it is worth suggesting the on-the-way or when-they're-next alert when you book.

Cats in Multi-Pet Homes

Some cat clients also have dogs. A single visit can hold up to four pets, marked Dog or Cat, so a household with a doodle and a long-haired cat can be on one slot. The grooming checklist runs per pet, so each one gets its own checked steps and its own note for the customer. The groomer decides the order on site.

On the Day

The groomer sees the cat on the card with breed, size, coat and notes, plus van notes and past notes. They tap Start, work through the checklist, take before and after photos and tap Complete. The invoice is created and the card on file can be charged, and the owner can leave a tip from the customer app. For the rest of the repeat tools, go back to the recurring grooming software page.
